Liverpool have completed the signing of France forward Bradley Barcola from Paris St-Germain, in a deal that could be worth up to £123m.
The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Anfield, becoming the club’s fifth new arrival of the summer after the additions of winger Victor Munoz and defenders Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
How the fee breaks down
PSG had initially valued Barcola at £145m, according to details of the deal. Liverpool have instead agreed to pay an initial £106m, with a further £17m available in add-ons, taking the total potential value of the transfer to £123m.
The structure also accounts for a solidarity payment PSG owe to Lyon as part of the agreement that took Barcola to Paris three years ago, when he joined for a reported £38.5m.
Why Liverpool moved for him
Barcola arrives to bolster Andoni Iraola’s forward line following Mohamed Salah’s departure, the long-term injury absence of Hugo Ekitike, and the potential sale of Cody Gakpo. He will wear the number 29 shirt.
“It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play,” Barcola said. “I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League — it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life. It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term — that’s why I signed a long contract — and I hope I can do it.”
A left winger by trade who can operate across the front line, Barcola scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 49 appearances for PSG last season. He was part of the France squad that featured in all eight of its games at the 2026 World Cup, scoring three times as Les Bleus reached the third-place play-off.
His time in Paris brought a heavy trophy return: three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions Leagues, the French Cup twice, the Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Intercontinental Cup.
The profile behind the price tag
Although Barcola made almost all of his Champions League appearances on the left flank for PSG, his game carries the instincts of a centre-forward — he played as a striker until the age of 17, and it shows in his movement and shot selection.
He averaged 3.5 shots per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 last season, one of the division’s more active shooting totals for a player operating from wide areas. His expected-goals output of 9.83 placed him in the 95th percentile among wingers across Europe’s top five leagues — meaning only around 5% of wide players consistently found themselves in better scoring positions. He converted those chances into 11 league goals, outperforming his xG, and no PSG player or Ligue 1 winger posted a higher xG total across the 2025-26 campaign.
Barcola was also the only player in Europe’s top five leagues to average more than two shot-ending carries per 90 minutes (2.06), a mark of his willingness to drive at defenders before shooting himself. His 8.69 touches per 90 minutes in the opposition penalty area ranked seventh among more than 1,500 eligible players, and only Ousmane Dembele bettered his combined shot volume and chance creation in Ligue 1.
His work off the ball was another factor behind Liverpool’s interest: Barcola ranked ninth across Europe’s top five leagues for possessions won in the final third last season, a pressing profile that fits the intensity Iraola demands of his forwards.
