Trevoh Chalobah has completed a move to Como from Chelsea in a deal worth more than £30m, ending his lengthy association with the London club. The 27-year-old centre-back has signed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas’ side, who secured Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.
Deal Structure and Departure
Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m for Chalobah, with a further £5.1m available in add-ons following what were described as protracted negotiations. The defender, who has two senior England caps and was a late call-up to their World Cup squad, leaves his boyhood club after nearly 20 years, having joined Chelsea as a child.
Fabregas, who was briefly a team-mate of Chalobah during his time at Stamford Bridge, praised the signing. “He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como,” Fabregas said. Chalobah described the move as special, noting he was thrilled to work with Fabregas again at an ambitious, rising project.
Chelsea Career and Loan Spells
Chalobah made 151 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea and won five trophies during his time at the club, including the FA Cup in 2018 and the Conference League in 2025. He also had loan spells away from Chelsea with Ipswich, Huddersfield, Lorient and Crystal Palace during his development.
