Gustavo Hamer Rejoins Coventry City on Long-Term Deal

Coventry City have re-signed midfielder Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United on a long-term contract, for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old spent three years with the Sky Blues before moving to Sheffield United in 2023.

A familiar face returns to the Sky Blues

Hamer scored 19 goals in 132 appearances during his first spell at Coventry and was named the club’s player of the year in 2021-22. He said going to the Premier League with Coventry was something he always dreamt of, adding that it was ‘very special’ when the club came back in for him.

Hamer said the love he received from the fans was amazing, and that the only thing he could give back was goals, assists and good performances. He added that whilst he cannot score or provide an assist every game, he can give 100% for the badge, the club and the fans.

Impressive spell at Bramall Lane

Hamer played in the Premier League with the Blades in 2023-24. He scored 22 goals and provided 29 assists in 123 games in all competitions for the Yorkshire club.

Before playing in England, Hamer played for Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie. He is a former Netherlands youth international.
