Tottenham Agree Marmoush Loan With £60m Buy Obligation

Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on an initial loan, with an obligation to make the move permanent for £60m. The Egypt forward is set for a medical before the switch is finalised.

Sky Sports News understands the £60m fee breaks down into a £50m guaranteed payment and £10m in add-ons, structured around the obligation to buy rather than a straightforward permanent transfer.

No Sell-On Clause For Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt, who sold Marmoush to City in January 2025, will not receive any cut of the fee. Reports of a sell-on clause in that original deal have been contradicted by Sky Sports News, which understands Frankfurt do not hold one.

The German club were paid their desired guaranteed fee at the time of that sale, along with additional bonuses, and received the money in very few instalments. City have already fulfilled all of their payment obligations to Frankfurt from the original transfer.

Following Savio To North London

Marmoush is poised to link up with a former City teammate at Tottenham. Brazil winger Savio completed an £85m move to Spurs on Tuesday, and Marmoush now looks set to follow him into Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

The Savio deal alone pushed Tottenham’s summer outlay above £300m, adding to previous signings of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, plus the free transfers of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

De Zerbi: “I Don’t Feel Pressure”

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup second-round tie against Charlton, shown live on Sky Sports, De Zerbi indicated the club’s transfer activity is not finished.

“I don’t feel pressure about the transfer market. If I can, I want to spend more money again without problems, because the other teams don’t spend anything different,” De Zerbi said.

He added that his own ambitions at the club go beyond simply matching the outlay of rivals.

“I feel pressure because I am working in one of the best clubs in the world and I would like to help this club to compete to win the titles. I don’t know [whether] this season or next season, but, in the end, it’s my big target, my personal target,” he said.

De Zerbi was pointed in comparing Tottenham’s resources to those of the division’s traditional heavyweights.

“We have nothing less than the other big clubs in the Premier League, especially now, in my time. We are moving very well in the transfer market and why not? I can’t understand why Tottenham can’t compete with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal. I don’t understand why Tottenham can’t spend the same money as Chelsea, Liverpool,” he said.

What Happens Next

With the loan agreement in place and a medical to follow, Marmoush’s move to Tottenham is on course to be finalised in the coming days. The obligation attached to the deal means City can expect the £60m fee, split between guaranteed money and bonuses, once the terms of the loan are met — with none of it owed onward to Frankfurt.
