Vinicius Jr Handed Improved Contract by Real Madrid

Real Madrid have moved to secure Vinicius Jr’s long-term future by tabling an improved contract offer to the Brazil winger. The 26-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal and has attracted interest from Arsenal in recent weeks.

Talks resume after impasse

Negotiations over a new deal at Real had reached an impasse, but the Spanish club have now put forward fresh terms. Vinicius is understood to be appreciative of the new offer as Real await his decision. Senior figures at the club, including returning head coach Jose Mourinho, are hopeful the winger will renew his contract.

Vinicius signed a contract extension at Real three years ago that runs until 2027, and the club and his representatives have been in talks over a new agreement for the past 18 months. He returned to training on Monday for his first pre-season session and medical assessment following his World Cup campaign with Brazil.

Arsenal interest lingers

Should Vinicius reject the contract offer, Arsenal are willing to accelerate their interest in the Brazilian. The Gunners have identified him as their priority left-wing target should his position at Real change.

Vinicius has made 375 appearances for Real in all competitions, scoring 128 goals. He is believed to want recognition as Los Blancos’ top star financially, though Real are traditionally strict about maintaining their salary structure under president Florentino Perez.

Vinicius has publicly described Real as “the club of my dreams” and said he hopes to remain there for many years.
