Digne completes PSG transfer from Aston Villa

Lucas Digne has completed a move to Paris St-Germain from Aston Villa, ending his eight-year spell in England. The 33-year-old left-back has signed a three-year deal at the Parc des Princes after PSG activated an £8.5m release clause in his contract.

Return to former club

Digne joined Villa from Everton in 2022 and now returns to PSG, where he spent three years earlier in his career. He made 30 appearances for the club during that first spell before leaving for Barcelona in 2016.

The France international said he was honoured to be returning to Paris St-Germain, adding that he was impressed by how the club had developed over the years. Digne has earned 64 senior caps for the France national team.

At PSG, Digne is set to provide competition for first-choice left-back Nuno Mendes. The club have won the Champions League twice in succession, most recently after beating Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final.

Third senior exit for Villa

Digne was part of the Aston Villa side which won the Europa League last season, the club’s first piece of silverware since 1996. His departure is the third senior exit from Villa Park this season, following Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans’ move to Manchester United.
