Middlesbrough Sign Man United Keeper Radek Vitek

Middlesbrough have signed Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old Czech becomes the seventh player to join Boro this summer.

Bristol City loan spell

Vitek spent last season on loan in the Championship with Bristol City, where he made 41 league appearances. He did not make a competitive appearance for Manchester United, though he did feature for them in pre-season friendlies this summer.

Speaking to the club website, Vitek said he was impressed by Middlesbrough’s ambition. “The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League,” he said, adding that everyone at the club shares that mindset.

Debut on the horizon

Middlesbrough started the campaign with a 1-0 win over Wrexham in the Carabao Cup on Friday. Vitek could make his debut for the Teessiders in their Championship opener at home to promoted Lincoln City next Saturday.

Middlesbrough have not disclosed the length of contract Vitek has signed.
